1968 Schwinn Apple Krate Restored ExcellentThis is a 1968 apple krate that was restored in 1999 and has been a display bike ever since. The serial number si hd43259, and the bike is complete and correct. The seat was redone and many of the chrome and zinc pieces replated the only reproduction parts are the rear fender, tires, and tubes. The bike was repainted in ppg deltron matched to the original red. There are two places where the paint is chipped and touched up one below the shifter on the otp tube, and one on the curve frame bar right below the seatpost clamp (see the last picture). There is also a small spot on the left chainstay where the paint has bubbeld a bit maybe 1/8 long. Also, the chrome on the rear seat hoop has about a 3/4 x 1/4 scratch. Otherwise, everything is as it wsa when it was restored. The tires still have all the molding nubs on them, since they were replace when teh bike was redone and they've never been ridden. Buyer to pay actual ups shipping plus insurance these bikes are heavy (around 50 lbs), so plan on shipping running $80-$100 depending on where you live. Regardless, this is a great example of the original krates, and is in fabulosu condition. If you touch up a few spots, it will look almost new. |
